But with Arcimboldo there's a jokiness to the whole it's-a-man!/it's vegetables! approach that is hard to get away from, even when you are noticing the sublime details. Where that line falls that you refer to, I dunno...but I do think Arcimboldo does really amazing things within an odd genre.mrs.5000noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10779294.post-52915615533801470532011-11-14T04:32:09.794-08:002011-11-14T04:32:09.794-08:00Arp, because those vegetable people give me the cr...Arp, because those vegetable people give me the creeps. They're not just made of vegetables, they're in a creepy light, too. I'm sure Arp has something better than the pictures you showed us, which are, admittedly, almost as bad as creepy vegetable people peering out of the dark.Nichimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07359298496725231902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10779294.post-77302405822149585972011-11-13T18:27:23.784-08:002011-11-13T18:27:23.784-08:00Much Ado about Noting!Much Ado about Noting!Michael5000https://www.blogger.com/profile/10148584819327475239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10779294.post-72210824058567064432011-11-13T16:07:07.551-08:002011-11-13T16:07:07.551-08:00*h*hUnwiseOwlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09466448988499591715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10779294.post-6043016821138512062011-11-13T16:06:59.159-08:002011-11-13T16:06:59.159-08:00Fruit! I guess what I'm asking is where the line falls between having a signature style or technique (which I may well be blurring inappropriately) and being a shallow or undeveloped artist....Candidahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14586276874940437381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10779294.post-84438589028697857322011-11-13T09:43:24.488-08:002011-11-13T09:43:24.488-08:00Well, Arcimboldo is a bit of a one-liner, of cours...Well, Arcimboldo is a bit of a one-liner, of course, and Arp's range and influence aren't really captured with these two selections. But a friend once sent me a series of Arcimboldo postcards, the four seasons, and it was a delightful and memorable event. And, let's face it, Arp wouldn't have been nearly as much fun.
