The Infinite Art Tournament Left Bracket Second-Round Elimination: G. David v. Delaunay!

Are artists that lose their First Round matches doomed?  Well, today sees the meeting of two artists who lost their initial match but have since won two straight to stay alive in the Left Bracket.  After this match, of course, one will advance to the Third Round, and the other won't.

If our voting was transitive, you'd have to give the advantage to Gerard David over Robert Delaunay.  He got to this match by beating Delacroix (1-2, 14 vf - 23 va). Delacroix's one victory was over Delaunay. But veteran Tournament watchers will have figured out by now that art voting does not always obey the transitive property.

Along with Delacroix, Gainsborough drops from the Tournament this week after going 1-2-1, 22 vf -30 va.

Gerard David
c.1455 - 1523

Robert Delaunay

Delaunay for the colors!

Outside of the futuristic 3rd one, I'm not feeling Delaunay. I think I'm alone in not liking his colors. Tone it down Delaunay!

Tough one for me, I find them both fairly yummy. Delaunay. No, David. David!

Here's an emailed vote for G. David.

I like Delauney JUST FINE, although I probably like his wife better, but G. David is magnificent, and also has a cow, and also my vote.

Gerard David takes it! It's a runaway second half, and he emerges the victor with a solid 10-5 vote. He's heading for Round Three!
