The Infinite Art Tournament, Round Two: Vermeer v. Vieira da Silva!


If you're all like "What happens to Vaserely/Valazquez?" then you are really paying attention!  The answer was, it was a tie, and the brackets have been shuffled a bit accordingly.

This is one of those match-ups that I needlessly agonize over, since it'll probably be Vemeer in a landslide- but not for me. I find Vieriera de Silva's works quite interesting and distinctive. I'm also kind of bothered by how circular the face is of the girl in the bottom Vermeer. But so many of those Vermeer scenes: totallly dutchtastic. And I do like his use of strong colors in these somewhat dingy scenes. Which is a long way of saying I'll also be going with Vermeer.
