The Odyssey: Another Perspective

Found in a notebook dating from when I was student teaching.  Author unknown.

The Odyssey was last reviewed on these pages in June, 2010.

Oh Lord. What grade level was this? (I hesitate to ask.)

My copy of the Odyssey has a big picture of George Clooney and the blazon 'The Book the Inspired "O Brother Where Art Thou"' on it in large bold letters. I think 'The Odyssey' features on the spine, but if it's on the cover at all its in very small print.

CC: Me too.

Jenners: This would likely be a medium-low ability high school freshman. You can tell it's pre-2002, because he or she uses capital letters.

UO: Ooh, I hope that's true. The best joke in "O Brother Where Art Thou" is the part about it being "inspired by the Odyssey." This made movie watchers feel all classically educated, but it's pret-ty darn tenuous.

And here I was thinking it sounded like a fifth or sixth grader....
