An earnest vote for Ernst.

Well, I like the photorealism stuff, for some reason, but not enough to say no to Max Ernst, who did some fantastic stuff.

As much as I enjoy the intricate surreal landscapes of Ernst, I'm going to have to vote for the exquisite photorealism of Estes.

I was liking Ersnt until I saw Estes. That first Estes would make a terrific puzzle.

I will go with Estes because it looks like a photograph. I think he has one in the Art Institute in Chicago that I like.

Not my favorite Ernst stuff, but he gets my vote.

I always kind of liked Ernst's collage work, and am still fond of, oh, whatsit, Two Children Threatened by a Nightingale. But my grounded, middle-aged self is more taken with Estes--having spent some time admiring, in the top painting, how a dark panel in front of the dark storefront that says TIES seems to slice the light-colored car into two improbable pieces.

A vote-by-email for Estes!

And by gum, I'm going to vote for Estes myself. His version of photorealism is kind of a visual ostranenie, if I can get away with that. Two Trouser Suits! Two Trouser Suits! And Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby.

Jenners: Now I want an Estes puzzle.

It's Estes over Ernst, 7-6, in a see-saw thriller that went down the last vote!
