GENTILESCHI

Fabriano is an excellent example of Renaissance-era religious art, but despite his mastery of the genre he can't hold a candle to Gentileschi's shading, tense scenarios, and lutes. So I'll vote for Gentileschi.

2nd guy is way better. Scarriest Three Way Ever and Chesty Guitar Player are two of his finest works.

Gentileschi, yeah, sorry, other dude, but no contest.

Fabriano may be fabrulous, but Gentileschi is...er, gentileschious?

You know, when this tournament started, I think I pretty much thought of Gothic and Baroque as synonyms. No more! Now I know I like Gothic paintings probably more than the average voter, but still usually prefer Baroque. Thank for culturalizing me Michael!

I like da Fabriano, but have no hesitation in joining the crowd for Artemisia Gentileschi. I especially love how unflinching and believable her Judith slaying Holofernes is.

As much as I like the notion of myself as somebody who goes against the grain and prevents unanimous sweeps, I'm not gonna lie--it's Artemisia, baby. You know, I actually read a NONFICTION book about her before she even appeared in the tournament? She gets my vote.

(Minor disclaimer: reading the book made me like her a little less, which was a pity, but I still like her better than Gentile.)

I'm kind of grooving on Gentile da Fabriano, and since the horse is already out of the barn I'm just going to act on that. (full disclosure: I also have a deeply stupid prejudice against Gentileschi for her two greatest hits being "Judith Slaying Holofernes in her Gold Outfit" and "Judith Slaying Holofernes in her Blue Outfit." And how many times did Cezanne paint the same damn mountain?)
