Benton doesn't always strike exactly the right note for me--he leans toward the cartoony--but when you realize how much he pulls off in any single painting, he's quite amazing. He trounces Cozens' very nice, but monotonous, scenes.

Benton, baby! America's quirky heartland impressionist for the win.

After a tough start, Benton pours on the votes and ends up on top of Cozens, ten votes to three. He'll meet Richard Long in Round Two next week!
