Koons might be the only artist who after I read his biography I liked him less. Not that I was loving his work before then, but it did give off a childish air that elevated him above Kooning for me. But now seeing that his work might be more an embrace of vacuous capitalism and that he's one of the most popular (by selling price) artists today... Well I still like him better than Kooning I guess, but let's just say the childish air has grown heavy with cynical sadness.

And I will vote for the embittered (which artists should be!) Hausmann.

Another vote for Hausmann--his collage may be a bit underbaked, but I like the Mechanical Head--and against the (yes, vacuous, cynical, and for me oddly repulsive) work spat out by Koon's little art-industrial complex.

There's a split vote on the FB feed, Mariah going "Hands-down Hausmann," Linda for Koons.

Ooh, I like Koons.

Hausmann, for sure. Chuck has poisoned the Koons well for me, but I don't think I'd be much inclined to vote with him anyway.

There's an emailed abstention, for what that's worth...

Hausmann wins the match and stays alive, 9 to 4.
