There's a split on the Facebook feed, one for Mabuse, one for Magritte.

Magritte! He is legitimately one of my all-time favorite artists.

I just mentioned that Mabuse is a little too fussy for my taste, and M5K pointed out that I might be a little too fussy for him. In any case, I'll go with Magritte, always straight as an arrow to his paradox du jour.

If Mabuse were up against another artist I would probably vote for him but I have to go with Magritte here.

As fascinated as he was with the reverse mermaid, Elliott is still going to cast his vote for Mabuse, who he says is one of his favorites thus far.

Magritte paintings have a way of seeming really surreal and mysterious to me, until someone points out the fairly obvious trick that I hadn't cottoned on to. I'm like "WOW WHAT A SURREAL LANDSCAPE" and then someone says "yes, it's a daytime sky over a night scene," and I feel just a little disappointed. "SOMETHING'S WEIRD HERE." "Yes, the painting shows the landscape that is presumably hidden behind it." "Oh." And now Chuckdaddy refers to this spectacular oceanside grotesque as a "reverse mermaid," and I feel a little disappointed, because now that I recognize it as a reverse mermaid, it seems like a bit of a one-liner.

Not that there's anything wrong with one-liners.

Mabuse.

Susan emails in to staunch the leak in Magritte's lead -- in other words, she votes for Magritte.

Um hello? Magritte?

Yes? Hello? This is Magritte speaking. Hey, I just won a second round match against Mabuse, 9-6. Want to grab some beers later to celebrate? Awesome, see you then!
