You know, I was honestly tempted. But no, it's Escher.

Escher. Word to the wise: Never attempt a jigsaw puzzle of an Escher painting. I did it not once, but twice. Excruciating.

I have the feeling that if I looked at lots by both artists, I might not vote this way, but based on this selection? Vigée Le Brun. (I know I don't have to vote based on the limited selection here, but I am today.)

Man, this is a powerhouse first-round contest. Escher is... Escher! I was the one who nominated him for the Play-In Tournament, and remain baffled that I needed to. But this Vigée Le Brun kid's got chops! I think I'm going to drop my vote for her!

Hmmm. Yes, it does pain me a bit, but Escher.

Vigée Le Brun gets mugged coming out of the gate, with Escher taking this match nine to five. Well, that's why its double-elimination. She'll have her second chance against Vouet soon, while Escher will have to try his chops against de Vlaminck.
