The Infinite Art Tournament, Round One: Banksy v. Bonnard!

It's the first weekend of an even month and you have every right to expect a Round Four pairing!  Unfortunately, Corot staged an amazing come-from-way-behind run on Dali over the course of the last month, tying up his Third Round match and leaving us without any valid contenders.  Zowie!  It isn't the first time this has happened -- the other time was exactly one year ago -- but it is probably the last.

So, what do we do?  We just move on to the next First Round match, like it was an ordinary weekend.  There is a bit of a hitch there, too, however.  A First-Round tiebreaker, Ghirlandao v. Hausmann, was the next pairing listed on the brackets, but Hausmann's three months since his tie was determined aren't up until next Friday.

So instead, we'll use this bracket spot to bring in another triumphant artist from the Play-In Tournament against an artist from an early First Round tie.  Readers and voters, I give you: Banksy v. Pierre Bonnard!

Banksy
b. 1974
British

Finished First in Phase 1, Flight 11 of the Play-In Tournament with a voting score of .909.
Tied for First in Phase 2, Flight 5 of the Play-In Tournament with a voting score of .500.

Pierre Bonnard
1867 - 1947
French

Tied with Richard Parkes Bonington in his initial Round 1 outing, in March 2012.

Banksy.

That white cat of Bonnard's is freakishly small, by the way.

I'm gonna say Bonnard by about 3 degrees of magnitude.

Oh, Bonnard Bonnard Bonnard.

And with that unhesitating if ill-fated vote, I think I'm finally caught up!

Bonnard is luminous, and I'm drawn to those colors, but Banksy... yeah. Banksy.

Banksy takes it 8 to 4, and is off to the Second Round!
