The Infinite Art Tournament, Left Bracket Third Round: Hockney v. Fragonard!

Back in November 2013, Fragonard went head to head with Casper David Friedrich in the Third Round.  Two days later, David Hockney entered the Tournament in his First Round debut.  Since then, Hockney won his First Round match, tied and then lost in the Second Round, then won two in the Left Bracket, and finally makes it into the Third Round... where Fragonard re-enters the fray as his new nemesis, having been booted over here to the left by Friedrich.  All caught up?  Good.

David Hockney
Born 1937
British; works in United States

Jean-Honoré Fragonard
1732 - 1806
French
  • Beat American Sam Francis without too much trouble in Round 1.
  • Won a close one against Helen Frankenthaler in Round 2.
  • Crushed by Caspar David Friedrich in Round 3.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of some of these Hockneys. But he did other stuff I quite like. So, Hockney.

Fragonard, because I'm ALL ABOUT THE ROCOCO!

Well, not really. But Fragonard was AWFULLY good at what he did.
