Third Thursday Semi-Finals: Courbet v. Diebenkorn!

As the Tournament soars majestically on through the firmament of time, its scheduling must inevitably be tweaked from time to time.  Welcome, then, to the first instance of Third Thursday!  On the third Thursday of the month, we will now be launching Semifinal matches.  Third Thursday: Bringing big names to your mid-month!




"Semifinals" designates the Fourth to Seventh Rounds of the Infinite Art Tournament.  This is a Left Bracket Fourth Round Match between Gustave Courbet (5-1, 42-30, .583) and Richard Diebenkorn (3-1, 30-27, .526).  Gerard David (4-2, 41-35, .539) leaves the Tournament after a close loss to Courbet.

A seesaw match sees Diebenkorn recover from an early deficit, pull ahead, and finally fall on the last two votes to Courbet, who takes the match eight votes to seven. Diebenkorn leaves the Tournament with three wins and two losses.
