Mondrian I

This is kind of double-dipping, because I've shown you this one in progress a few times in progress, including this post which also shows the piece it emulates.

But I'm happy to announce that "Mondrian I," which has the somewhat arbitrary designation of M5K Quilt #56, is now officially finished.  Please note that, like most of my quilt work, it is splendid.

There are of course more details at State of the Craft.  Or you can just come over and run your fingernails over its endlessly ribbed surface.  Just give a call first!

Do you know how cruel it is to invite me the texture freak to come and run my fingers across not only courderoy but quilted cord, when she lives in England. Oh my god it must feel amazing! Oh I am coming home for Christmas do you want anythign other than flapjacks?

Ow, ow, ow!

However, I will happily admire it from afar.

Ooh...that'd feel NICE. If only I was a few thousand megameters closer.

Well, for ME, the cool colors are the main attraction.

Are you actually sleeping under 56 quilts?

I think what Elaine means is "Are you actually suffocating under 56 quilts?"

I gained an appreciation for the brilliance of Mondrian after spending several days solving a puzzle encoded in a fake, but I prefer brighter colours than this quilt.

Yank, Owl: To be honest, it pretty much feels like corduroy, so you could probably duplicate the experience at home. Of course, it's a LOT of corduroy....

Lauren: You were just two syllables away from writing the first ever haiku about one of my quilts.

Elaine: Well, the number of quilts slept under varies with season of course. We have capacity to emblanket ourselves and any number of guests through a fairly brutal winter, yes. This particular piece is intended as an objet d'art, however, not as a blanket.

Aviatrix: Hee hee... it is SO not traditional to do anything but ooh, ahh, and coo over completed quilts. Your honesty delights me. You may, if you wish, copy the image to an image processing software and crank up the saturation to the level of your choice.

Beautiful! Now make a Joseph Cornell quilt.
