Tough one. I've always liked Bierstadt, but didn't know much about Bingham. After some browsing of his work, I think I'll go with Bingham.

Here's a vote by email: Bingham all the way to the finals; Fur Traders Descending the Missouri is my favorite painting in the world.

Though quite tempted by the cat in the pirogue, I'm going to go with Bierstadt. I've always loved his landscapes and that second one is particularly luminous.

I was going back and forth, leaning slightly towards Bingham because his told more of a story. But then I realized the story wasn't that interesting, or at least not interesting enough to overtake those incredible scenes. Point - Bierstadt

I'm going to go with Bierstadt, just, just barely. It's a walloping powerhouse of an all-American matchup!
