The Wednesday Post

The Alumni Association Doesn't "Get" Science
Ironically, it's because of my good education that I can see through the lies.

Although it appears that the mallard duck genome, the most-studied duck genome, has not been fully mapped (Kraus, 2011), the genome of the chicken, a species that one could predict to be genetically similar to the duck due to its shared avian characteristics, has been entirely recorded. A comparison between the chicken genome and the human genome shows a 60% similarity (NIH, 2004). Therefore, we can infer that being a duck is part of 60% of your DNA, give or take.

Can I tell you how incredibly happy it makes me that the commenters on this blog cite their sources???

@Morgan: That is AWEsome...

@Bro5000: Does the Alumni association really think your last name is "Five Thousand, or have you manipulated the image? You could get, like, duplicate scholarships–duplicate TRANSCRIPTS. I wonder which of you has a better GPA.

I had anticipated your point of attack, Morgan, but the glib response I had prepared doesn't seem very funny now that the time has come to use it. So I will just state the obvious: well played.

Sis: As I explained several years ago, my family's original name was "Funftausend," but was changed by overzealous officials at Ellis Island. This is why I go by "FiveThousand" in public life.
