The Wednesday Post

It's the 100th running of...

The Northern Prairies!
it can't always be Hawaii, Barbados, or Florida
A visit here is a must for the visitor of this area

St. Joseph's Cathedral, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Dearest family,

This is a poor excuse for a letter; but things are still so busy.  Over the weekend, I'll try again.  Anyway, just wanted you to know that I'm all right and thinking of you and finally found the card I'd been trying to track down for a year and a half.  Pretty good, huh?

All love, Betty

HEADWATERS OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER
ITASCA STATE PARK, MINN.
Here, at the Source of the Mississippi River and many other historical spots around Lake Itasca, the State of Minnesota has created its largest park, known as Itasca State Park.  The river itself plays a great part in inland water transportation and flood control for our central states.

Dear Aunt Beda,

We arrived home safely on Saturday afternoon and our luggage came to the bus deport on Monday evening.  Sure was glad to get it back.  Had to buy some clothes for church on Sunday though but that was O.K.  I am back at work at the nursing home and Gust is carpentering in town.  Hope you are well and thanks for the nice telephone visit.

Love, Marie & Gust

RUNESTONE MUSEUM
Alexandria, Minnesota
The card shows but six of the many interesting exhibits of this museum.  A visit here is a must for the visitor of this area.

CAPITOL BUILDING AND SOLDIERS' & SAILORS' MONUMENT
DES MOINES, IOWA
This Monument to Soldiers and Sailors was erected to the Grand Army of the Republic in 1889-1890.  The Capitol grounds cover 165 acres.  Here 30,000 plants with 150 varieties of flowers flourish.

Dear Ed & Ann -- Boy! talk about exotic places.  Here we are in Des Moines for a week.  Donald Jr. is being married here this week.  He will be transferred to Geneva, Switzerland in Nov.  He works for Caterpillar.  Oh well, it can't always be Hawaii, Barbados, or Florida.  President Reagan is due here next week, so things must be looking up for this area.  We will be going to Reno in October & that will be all of the vacation we have for this year.  We hope you both are enjoying good health & good voyages.

Good Morning Folks

Glad to get your card, Thomas.  I saw a lot of Mts. in '47 when I went vacation to Calif.  Raining here today.  Staying home catching up on mail.  Cool here.  Your friend,
