The Wednesday Post

Reader Mailbag
How come you never write?

When the sun rises on this blog, loyal reader voter and Elizabeth is always the first one stirring.  This is not just because she is by nature bright-eyed and bushy-tailed -- though no doubt she is those things -- but because she has for many years been dwelling away beyond the eastern sea, in a magical land they call "Europe."

Specifically, right at the moment she is in Hungary.

She recently sent pretty much the perfect letter.  It started on the envelope, with those excellent single-color Hungarian stamps.  They look so much like the single-color Hungarian stamps of yore, as collected by the dorky set back in the day! Except now they say Magyarország instead of "Magyar Posta."

Plus, she sent money.

And to round things out, a not-especially boring postcard of her very own bridge, spanning the... the Danube, if I remember right, between Buda and Pest, if I continue to remember right.

Closer to home, Chuckdaddy and family were traveling in the southern reaches of the Beaver State.  As he proves here, they don't really make boring postcards like they used to.  But, they still make 'em.

I was going to say, "I like that Elizabeth sent us a postcard of her very own bridge!" but I see you've already pointed that out. So...um...Nice abutments, Elizabeth!

I love it when people notice my abutments.
