Faceoff #1: Dove v. Motherwell

Arthur Dove

Lost to Norman Rockwell in a second shot at Round 1.

-----

Robert Motherwell

American

Lost to the Master of Moulins in Round 1.

Faceoff #2: Munch v. Nash

Edvard Munch

Norwegian

Upset by Czech art deco guy Alphonse Mucha in Round 1.

-----

Paul Nash

Lost at the last second to Murillo in Round 1. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!

Vote for the two artists of your choice! Votes generally go in the comments, but have been known to arrive by email, by postcard, or in a sealed envelope.

Please note that you may vote only once in each face-off.  Opining that both of the artists in one of the two face-offs is superior to the other is fine, but casting your votes for two artists in the same face-off is not permissible.

This is the mothership example of both of the bottom over both of the top. But if I must... A google search for Dove makes me like him more; he does have some pretty interesting works. And, I'll vote for Nash while bemoaning the fact that one of these guys is about to get eliminated.

The top contest goes to Dove, who drummed up eight votes against Motherwell's four. The bottom contest is still open for the nonce, if you're late to the party.

And the bottom contest is a TIE, with Munch and Nash garnering exactly six votes apiece. That will send us cascading into tiebreaker mode! Very exciting.
