The Infinite Art Tournament, Round Four: Steen v. Tinguely!

By longstanding tradition, Fourth Round matches are started on the first day of even numbered months, but it's time to shake things up a little bit.  With both the First and Second Rounds complete, it's time to start wrapping up business in anticipation of the high-powered Sixth Round matches that can't be too far over the horizon!  So, even though it's an odd-numbered month, here's a Fourth-Rounder to kick off the new year.

Jan Steen
1626ish - 1679
Dutch
  • Defeated Frank Stella in Round 1 by a two-vote swing. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!
  • Won easily against Adriaen van Ostade in Round 2.
  • Beat Graham Sutherland easily in Round 3.

Jean Tinguely
1928 - 1991
Swiss
  • Defeated Giovanni Battista Tiepolo in Round 1.
  • Held off Dutch Master Hendrick Terbrugghen in Round 2.
  • Came back from behind for a two-vote victory against Mexico's Rufino Tamayo in Round 3. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!

Vote for the artist of your choice in the comments, or any other way that works for you. Commentary and links to additional work are welcome. Fourth-round matches are open for at least three months after posting.

Love Tinguely, but there's just something about a chaotic day-in-the-Dutch-Life painting. Steen.

Yep. I like the exuberance of Tinguely's tinkerings, but gotta go with Steen.

Tinguely.

I surprised myself with a vote for the cybernetics of Tinguely.

I'm feeling a little guilty about the number of pro-Dutch votes I cast, and it's not that I don't appreciate Tinguely's art, but... gotta go with Steen anyhow.

Uh, Steen? Yes.

Low turnout here, but it would be hard for Tinguely to overcome a two to seven deficit. Instead, he'll go over and wait for an opponent to come along in the Left Bracket. And Jan Steen will take on Vermeer!
