The Infinite Art Tournament Left Bracket Third Round: Hausmann v. Kupka!

Raoul Hausmann snuck past Oskar Kokoschka to get to the Left Bracket Third Round.  Kokoschka is out of the Tournament, but he distinguished himself while he was here; out of the 188 artists that have left, Kokoschka's "batting average" -- the ratio of votes for to votes against -- replaces Salvador Dali's as the fourth highest, at .604.

Hausmann takes on Frantisek Kupka, last seen taking a tough loss to Georges de La Tour in Round Three.

Raoul Hausmann
1886 - 1971
Austrian; worked in Germany and France

Frantisek Kupka
1871 - 1957
Czech; worked in France

  • Defeated Wilfredo Lam in an unusual Cuban/Czech IAT Round 1 pairing.
  • Beat beachcomber Andres Amador in Round 2 by a single vote. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!
  • Lost to Georges de La Tour in Round 3.

Certainly Kupka, but not because I dislike Hausmann.

I'm so happy a creepy between the wars (more or less) German still survives. Go Hausmann!

Susan votes for Kupka.

I'll go with Kupka's well-crafted doodles over the cynical collage of Hausman.

Hausmann won three matches in the Left Bracket, but he can't stand up to Kupka and loses this one three votes to nine. Kupka keeps Czech dreams alive in Elimination!
