The Very First New Monday Quiz of 2015!



We begin the new year with a quiz about times past: the events of 50, 100, 150, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, and 2500 years ago.

E) Signing of the Magna Carta; founding of the Dominican Order; the Mongols under Genghis Khan crush the Jin dynasty and sack Beijing.

The Battle of Gallipoli, the Sinking of the Lusitania, Einstein formulates relativity.

G) Darius I dies and is succeed by Xerxes I -- their empire probably includes more than 2/5 of all living people. Birth of Herodotus. Three years after Coriolanus' defection, Quintus Fabius Vibulanus defeats the Volsci.

H)
Cnut the Great begins his invasion of England; Death of Vladimir the Great, the king who Christianized the Kievan Rus; Berserkers outlawed in Norway.

I) Napoleon's "Hundred Days" and the Battle of Waterloo; first baby of European parents born in New Zealand; birth of Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

J) Publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland; Assassination of Abraham Lincoln; Gregor Mendel formulates his theories of genetic inheritance.
